Jade has a special interest in weight loss, chronic diseases of lifestyle, and nutrition during pregnancy. Jade consults regularly to various corporates and enjoys conducting group weight loss programmes, cooking classes, and corporate presentations. Jade is a whizz in the kitchen, passionate about healthy cooking and has a keen interested in developing recipes which are both nutritious and delicious. Together, Jade and Claire are developing a recipe book for publication mid 2019. Jade believes that the key to being successful in eating healthily is to adapt it to your lifestyle and thereby make it sustainable. Jade has worked extensively on corporate nutrition programmes, enjoys public speaking and presentations and also consults regularly for the media.
Guided by evidence-based nutrition, Monique believes in an integrative approach to nutrition where the key to being healthy is to adopt small yet impactful changes to your lifestyle. Monique has a special interest in sports nutrition, gut health, and teaching patients to eat sustainably for both better personal health and the health of the earth. Monique has worked in the private sector since 2011, equipping her with a wealth of experience in executive nutrition, corporate wellness initiatives, wellness day activations, and nutrition workshops and presentations. Monique consults to industry, regularly contributes to radio and online media, and is a PhD candidate at the University of Pretoria.
Co-founder of Nutritional Solutions, Claire, is passionate about empowering people to improve their health through optimal nutrition. She is the past president of ADSA and one of the most recognised figures in the field. The Nutritional Solutions CNE (Continuing Nutritional Education) is Claire’s brainchild is a platform to provide practitioners with current, cutting-edge, evidence-based updates in the field of nutrition and dietetics. Claire has developed and implemented interactive nutrition education initiatives for the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy. She has presented nutrition intervention programs for local corporations and large multinationals and consults to the food and pharmaceutical industries. She contributes regularly to print, online, television and radio media. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and part of the True Health Initiative.
Francesca is passionate about nutrition research and is dedicated to staying abreast of current developments and trends in nutrition. Francesca aims to empower the individuals she sees with the knowledge and skills they need to achieve their goals and optimise their health and well-being. She is committed to supporting her clients while they navigate the challenging roads of lifestyle change and assists them in utilising a life-course approach to healthy eating to ensure that the changes they make are sustainable and that they are successful in the long-term. Special interests include weight loss, insulin resistance, Type 2 diabetes, vegan/ plant-based diets, gastrointestinal disorders such as reflux, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and diverticular disease as well as assisting individuals with infertility, raised cholesterol levels, high blood pressure and compromised immune systems
During her community service year she gained experience working with children and adults suffering from undernutrition, as well as various chronic diseases of lifestyle (diabetes, hypertension, strokes, overweight and obesity). Rosanne’s areas of interest are paediatric wellness (combining physical activity and healthy eating to promote a healthy life for little ones) and eating disorders (trying to assist in restoring the balance and relationship with food). Her experience in various provincial sports teams assists in her advice with all aspects of sports nutrition. Rosanne is also an Optifast registered dietitian, with patients on the programme experiencing great success with their weight loss. Rosanne also has a keen interest in the condition of the gut and its relation to mental health disorders.
Ria is the founding partner of Nutritional Solutions which has become one of the leading dietetic practices in South Africa. Ria is a specialist in the practise of nutrition management in diabetes, metabolic syndrome and obesity and has authored the book, “The Complete Nutritional Solutions to Diabetes”. She writes regularly for a variety of publications ranging from lifestyle magazines to scientific journals such as the South African Journal of Diabetes and South African Medical Journal. She regularly contributes to the promotion of nutrition education and gives nutrition a “voice” by regular appearances on, radio, TV shows and conferences.
May is vegetarian and believes that nutrition should be kept simple. She is passionate about guiding and educating people on how to incorporate traditional and ethnic foods into daily life, in a healthy way. May will help change your mind set on how to tailor your overall eating lifestyle to optimise nutritional behaviour and forget about “diet” foods. Positive health and lifestyle changes are the core of May’s philosophy while focusing on real food and a holistic approach to life. May’s interest lies in getting vegetarians and vegans to eat more mindfully to maximize nutrient intake into their daily routine
Melanie Sher is a registered dietitian (RD (SA)) at Nutritional Solutions. She is passionate about nutrition and assisting people to incorporate healthy and balanced eating, exercise and mindfulness into a healthy lifestyle. Melanie completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree at The University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), majoring in physiology and psychology followed by a BSc Med (Hons) in Nutrition & Dietetics at the University of Cape Town (UCT). In line with her passion for fitness, Melanie completed a Diploma in Exercise Science with the Health and Fitness Professional Academy (HFPA). Melanie is currently enrolled in a Postgraduate Diploma in Mindfulness and Mindfulness-based Interventions through the University of Stellenbosch and the Institute for Mindfulness South Africa.
Donna lived in Italy for eight years where she had the opportunity to do research for several companies, and gain experience writing academic literature. For the past three years, Donna van Zyl has been practicing in Bloemfontein with a special interest in sports nutrition and paediatrics. She consults to athletes and presents a course of lectures on sport nutrition at the University of the Free State. Donna also sees patients at the Medi-Clinic in Bloemfontein in the paediatric, neonatal and ICU wards, with a special interest in type I diabetes.
